  • PRISMA project meeting @IIASA, Laxenburg, Austria

“The time is gone, the song is over – and we’re in the final stretch.”

In the words of Pink Floyd, the clock keeps ticking – and so does the momentum of PRISMA. Launched on January 1, 2023, and set to run through December 2026, PRISMA brings together an international consortium of research institutes, scientific organizations, and associated partners. The recent project meeting held at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg, Austria, from February 16-18, 2026, provided a valuable opportunity for consortium partners to align ongoing scientific work, strengthen collaboration, and strategically plan the next phases of implementation.

Key topics discussed during the meeting included:

    • How the various aspects of the net-zero transition relate to global long-term climate pledges
    • Potential region-specific challenges and setbacks in implementing these transitions
    • Coordination of PRISMA scenario protocol across WPs
    • Organization of the final conference

The meeting strengthened knowledge exchange and operational alignment among partners, reinforcing the shared commitment to develop more robust, transparent, and policy-relevant modeling tools. As planned in the project structure, collaboration across disciplines, models, and methodological approaches will continue over the remaining months through Stakeholder workshops, policy briefs, webinars, and a Final conference in Brussels.
