During the event Dr. Johannes Emmerling presented insights into the equity in Europe’s transition to climate neutrality. Johannes’ session revealed that EU-2030 plans fall short of fair-share ambition: responsibility- and capability-based metrics demand 47–130 % cuts by 2030 and over 90 % by 2040. Carbon prices of €120–1500 t-CO₂ risk regressive impacts, hitting Southern and Eastern Europe hardest unless revenues flow as climate dividends or labour-tax cuts. Multi-model evidence warns that inaction could lift the global Gini by 1.4 points, yet smart redistribution may create 1.5 million EU jobs by 2050.
